In an archive story from 2000, Pattie Barron takes a tour of a seventeenth-century garden outside Lisbon which uses traditional Portuguese tile pictures, azulejos, and classical statuary to romantic and dramatic effect.

Seldom has grandeur been so delightfully faded as at Lisbon's Palácio Fronteira. Developed from an existing hunting lodge, the building has always been the home of the Marquês of Fronteira.
